Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Willie James Jackson, 53, of Union Springs, Alabama on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Mr. Jackson, a member of the BCHS Class of 1985, passed away peacefully at his residence.
The Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the 11:00 a.m. from the sanctuary of the House of Light Church International. The pastor, Bishop Morris Thornton, delivered the message of comfort. Interment followed in the Mt. Hillard Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Jackson lay in repose at the church one hour prior to the Celebration of Life Service. Public visitation was held Friday, September 27, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Willie James Jackson, affectionately known as, “DUDE”, was the tenth child born to Samuel and Mollie Jackson on February 9, 1966. Willie accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Mount Hillard Baptist Church in Union Springs, Alabama; and later united with the House of Light Church International in Union Springs, Alabama.
Willie received his education in the Bullock County Public School System and was a member of the class of 1985. Willie was employed with Terry for Bricks for several years. Willie answered his final calling from the Lord and Savior on September 17, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mollie Jackson; paternal grandparents: Rev. Willie and Mollie Jackson; maternal grandparents: Rev. Tommy and Algertha Downing; a sister, Bettie Jackson; and nephew, Shermane Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memories seven sisters: Carrie Bowens, Jeroline (Terry) Jackson of Fitzpatrick, AL, Johnzaline Jackson, Ruby Jackson, Shirley Jackson, Susie Jackson, Annie Jackson, all of Union Springs, AL.; three brothers: Alonza (Evelina) Jackson, Samuel (Letitia) Jackson, and Tommy Jackson, all of Union Springs, AL.; two uncles: Bobby (Stacey) Downing, Middletown, NJ., and Eddie (Terri) Downing, Syracuse, NY.; six aunts: Elizabeth Braxton and Mary Jackson, Union Springs, AL., Mattie Mae Smith, Ft. Davis, AL., Mattie Gilberry, Ollie Harris, and Emma Lou Downing, all of Haines City, FL.; nieces and nephews: Cedric (Latoya) Downing, LaJuanda (Corey) Williams, Terry Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, LaTonya (Donald) Scott, Clifford Jackson, Quentin (Nicole) Jackson, James Jackson, Ja Darius Pritchett, Alonza Hampton, Janaris (Nagatha) Jackson, Sheronda Harris, Desmond Spann, Frederick Broadnax, Brandon Jackson, LaQuisha Howard, Zanthia Pritchett, Bridgette Rover, Xavier Jackson, Samuel Jackson III, Letiquea Jackson, Diaveon Jackson, Jamarion Jackson, Kelcey Jackson, Dareon Harris, Tommy Jackson, Jr., Tommy Jackson II, Joshua Jackson; special friends: Cherrides Jones and Carol Hampton; and a host of other great-nieces; great-great nieces; great-nephews; great-great nephews; cousins, relatives and friends.
