Carter Funeral Home announces with profound sadness the transition of Mr. Thomas Daniel Wood, 83 of Clayton, Alabama.
Fondly known as "Tater Man", Mr. Wood peacefully transitioned into eternity on May, 2 2020. Celebration of Life Services were held Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Friendly Assembly of God Cemetery in Clayton, Alabama.
Pastor Ronnie Benefield will deliver the message of comfort and strength. Public visitation will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home. Visitation and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols.
Thomas Daniel Wood, son of the late J. C. Wood and Nellie P. Wood was born October 20, 1936. He departed this world for eternal life on May 2, 2020.
Fondly known as “Tater Man”, he loved his family and loved to sell his vegetables and fruits. Doing what he did best, “Tater Man” traveled all over the State of Alabama and often made trips to Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee selling his fresh produce.
When he was not on the road, he would set up his roadside stand in the community where he lived and produced his vegetables and fruits. “Tater Man” was also preceded in death by his wife, and three children, Michelle, Marie and Larry.
His memories will be cherished by his sons and daughters, Thomas J. Wood and Melinda C. Wood, both of Clayton, AL, Kenneth Wood, Wetumpka, AL, and Marsha Wood, Tallahassee, FL, seven grandchildren and several other family members and friends.
