Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mrs. Sarah Mae Pritchett, 76, of Union Springs, Alabama on May 24, 2020 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Celebration of Life Services and Interment was held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from Wesley Garden Cemetery in the Cornerstone Community, Union Springs, Alabama.
The message of hope will be delivered by her son, Pastor Thomas Pritchett of the Mallard Chapel AME Zion Church. Public visitation was held Friday, May 29, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
All services and visitations will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols.
Mrs. Sarah Mae Pritchett, 76, affectionately known as “Feet” of Union Springs, Alabama died on May 24, 2020 at Baptist South Medical Center Montgomery, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; J.T Thompkins and Pearlie Mae Thompkins, husband; Walter James Pritchett, Sr; and close friend and sister-in law, Ida Bell Pritchett. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cornerstone AME Zion where she served faithful until her health declined. She was also a member of Vine Choice Chapel 304.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and she loved fishing. Prior to her failing health, she sung with various gospel groups and she was an avid softball player, playing with Cornerstone Tigers and other softball teams.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her seven children; Terrence (Minnie) Thompkins of Union Springs, AL, Walter James (Gloria) Pritchett II of Montgomery, AL, Juan (Delores K) Pritchett of Ozark, AL, Mittie (Fred) Smith of Troy, AL, Vicky (Julio) Hernandez of Ruston, LA, Thomas (Sandra) Pritchett Sr. of Union Springs, AL, and Marcia Pritchett of Arcadia, LA; three sisters: Gloria Russell, Priscilla (Johnny Mack) Thompkins both of Union Springs, AL, Fannie Thompkins of Saginaw, Michigan; four brothers: J.T (Beverly) Thompkins of Birmingham, AL, Johnny (Ester) Thompkins of Saginaw, Michigan, Walter Thompkins, Jimmy Thompkins both of Union Springs, AL: one aunt Sarah Jasper of Union Springs, AL; four sisters-in-law: Earnestine Brundage, Mandy Matthews both of Haines City, Florida, Betty Watson, Bertha (James) Jones both of Rochester, New York: one brother-in-law: Archie (Ruby) Pritchett; twenty three grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
