Allison V. “Blue” Barnett, 93, a resident of Fitzpatrick, AL, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020. The family received friends at University Church of Christ, 5315 Atlanta Hwy., Montgomery, AL on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Gray Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
He was born in Fitzpatrick, AL and moved to Florence, AL where he graduated from Coffee High School. He served as a Navy medic in WWII and returned to Florence where he graduated from The University of North Alabama.
When he graduated he went to work for Anderson Clayton Cotton Co. in Houston, TX. He represented Anderson Clayton in Osaka Japan for two years.
In 1956 he moved to Lubbock, TX where he started his own cotton merchant company.
In 1993 he retired and moved back to Fitzpatrick, AL. He is survived by his wife, Millie Barnett and two sons, Vernon Barnett and Robyn and their two children, Ian and Livvy of Pike Road, AL and Joe Barnett of Fitzpatrick, AL; brother, Doodle Barnett of Fitzpatrick; sister, Emily Newbold of Birmingham.
