Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Ruby Johnson Robbins, 87 of Tuskegee, Alabama on May 19, 2020.
Mrs. Robbins an Alumna of Alabama State University transitioned into eternity in Birmingham, Alabama Celebration of Life Services and Interment was held Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. from the Mt. Coney Baptist Cemetery of Midway, AL.
The eulogy will be delivered by Pastor James N. Robbins, Sr. of the Mt. Zion and Mt. Coney Missionary Baptist Churches.
Public visitation will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home. All visitation and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols.
Ruby Louise Johnson was born on June 6, 1932, in Bullock County, Alabama, to Ezera Johnson and Albert Johnson. She confessed Christ at an early age at Perote First Baptist Church.
She graduated from Perote High School and was salutatorian of her class. She graduated from Alabama State College, which is now Alabama State University, in 1958 with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education. She married Alrie Madison Robbins, moved to Tuskegee, Alabama, and became a homemaker. She dedicated her life to her three children.
She loved to help and care for people, especially children, and eagerly volunteered her time to serve others. She departed this life on May 19, 2020, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
She is survived by her three children, Janet Robbins of Atlanta, Georgia, Marcus Robbins, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Linda Holmes of Birmingham, Alabama; one son-in-law, Donald Holmes Jr., of Birmingham, Alabama; two grandchildren, Madison Holmes and Donald Holmes III (Trey) of Birmingham, Alabama; one special niece, Mary Ann Ellis of Union Springs, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
