USES celebrated World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) in creative and exciting ways on Friday, February 1, 2019. From 9:00 a.m. until 9:20 a.m., the entire school participated in (D.E.A.R.) Drop Everything And Read.

In addition to D.E.A.R., teachers read aloud to their students during the day. Community stakeholders and students from other classes were invited to come read to students as well.

The event was spearheaded by USES Reading Coach, Mrs. Yvette Robbins-Tellis, who stated, "Reading aloud gives students the chance to build so many foundational skills, providing them with a model of fluency and expressive reading, which motivates them to become lovers of reading and want to read."
