Elaine Tarver was sworn-in as Bullock County's Judge of Probate Office, Chief Clerk,  recently. Her niece Ranita Holmes held the Bible while Judge James E. Tatum administered the Oath of Office.

The Alabama Probate Judges and Chief Clerks' orientation was held in Tuscaloosa at the Alabama Law Institute on January 22 - 25, 2019. Probate Judge James E. Tatum and Chief Clerk Elaine Tarver attended the orientation. The orientation gives Probate Judges and Chief Clerks a snapshot of resources.

Topics studied were Licensing reports, Mental Illness, Mental commitments, Guardianship, Conservatorship, Tags, Adoptions, Wills, Estates, Eminent Domain and Elections.

The Ethics laws were also covered. Judge Tatum stated, “This class is offered every six years. This class was the beginning of a three and a half year curriculum.”

Upon completion, Tatum and Tarver will receive a Certificate in Probate Law. Tarver stated, “I was excited to be able to attend the orientation. The information offered will help me in performing my duties at the Bullock County Judge of Probate Office."
