At the April 6, 2020, meeting of the Union Springs Planning Commission, the vote was unanimous for board members to receive their CAPZO (Certified Alabama Planning and Zoning Official, Certification).

Certification can be obtained in one day. At the June 1, 2020, Planning Commission meeting, Chairman Brian Agnew stated that the City Council approved the board members to obtain the CAPZO Certification and Re-Certification on June 25 and June 26, 2020.

Board Secretary Presetta Walker reported she had received notification that the following board members would attend the certification course: Brian Agnew, Mayor Saint T. Thomas, Jr., Carla Elston, and Peggy Goodwin.

Those planning to attend the Re-Certification course are Joyce Perrin and Presetta Walker. In responding, Charlotte Phillips said she could not attend the CAPZO class on June 25, 2020.

Presetta Walker will contact board members Larry Stewart and Gary Hyche for their response.

Chairman Agnew said City Council member Deborah Hicks Milan should be added to the attendee’s list.

Payment plans were to be set up by the City Council.
