Part of the motions on the agenda for the Bullock County Commission are relative to senior citizens in Bullock County.

At its June 9, 2020, Tracy Larkins, Director of the DHR (Department of Human Resources) came before the commission to get approval to place an "Elderly Abuse Month" banner on the Bullock County Courthouse. All commissioners voted in favor.

County Administrator Patrick D. Smith asked the commission for approval for the hiring of the Aging Services Manager. Smith stated there were two candidates he and Chairman Alonza Ellis, Jr. interviewed through a serious of questions.

After the interview process, they decided to recommend Miranda Townsend as the Aging Services Manager for the Bullock County Commission. Voting was in favor of hiring her.

Commission Chairman Ellis came before the commission to secure funding to renovate the Bullock County Senior Citizens Center.

They voted to approve the funding of $15,000 that would be reimbursed through the Midsouth RC&D Council.

He stated the repairs include fixing the squirrel problem, fix leaks in the roof, repaint all walls, replace window treatment, replace counter tops and cabinets, remodel both bathrooms and replace commodes.

The RC&D funding was requested through a Community Development Grant application.
