The Annual Family and Friend Day was held Sunday, January 13, 2019 at First Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Gary Lewis is the pastor.
Ella Ruth Hall was the chairperson for the service. She said, “I thank all the program participants and everyone for coming and making the Family and Friends Day a huge success.
"Minister Spears brought a very inspiring message and I really thank him and Rev. Peacock for coming and bringing their family, friends, football players and coaches. It was the best Family and Friends day we have had.”
The theme for the day was from 1 Peter 3:8, “Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.”
The Master of Order was Bro. Otis (Red) Perry and as usual he was very entertaining with his wit, wisdom, and Little Johnny jokes.
Beautiful music selections were sung by the Adult Choir.
Minister Marc-Anthoni Peacock introduced the speaker, Minister Willie Spears, Jr., Bullock County High School football coach.
His message was about getting out of bad situations and not looking back. The scripture reference came from Genesis 19.
Coach Spears encouraged churches to make church more appealing to young people.
He encouraged parents to stop giving children a choice of rather or not to attend church and encourage teenagers to come to church.
After the message a delicious lunch of fried and baked chicken, rice, green beans, peas, potato salad, rolls, cornbread and homecakes were served with tea and lemonade.
