- Spears makes his point
- Bullock County Football Coach Willie D. Spears, Jr. presented the United Methodist Church members Attorney Lynn Jinks and Bob Wynn with a plaque in appreciation for beginning the "Feed the Football Players Ministry". The plaque reads, "This award of excellence is presented to the First United Methodist Church in Union Springs Alabama, Gene T. Nelson, Pastor." "Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend." - Martin Luther King, Jr. The plaque was given by Bullock County Chairman Alonza Ellis, Jr., Unity Program Chairman.
- Family and friends of Lynn Jinks, Jr. enjoyed a luncheon to celebrate his 97th birthday on January 10. The event was held at his residence in Montgomery, Al. The lucky attendees included his wife, Ruby Jinks; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn Jinks, III and Charlotte Jinks; and daughter, Debbie Jinks. Mr. Jinks was a long time citizen of Union Springs and still recounts many fond memories from his days here. He practiced law in the area for over 50 years and is proud to call Bullock County home. Happy Birthday, Mr. Jinks!
